Mississippi stands out as a premier destination for motorcycle enthusiasts, from its coastal stretches along the Gulf of Mexico to the forests and rolling hills inland. The Magnolia State offers a dynamic range of landscapes perfect for motorcycle riders like you, and today, we will share with you some of the top motorcycle destinations you will surely want to travel on
1. Natchez Trace Parkway
Spanning 310 miles and taking approximately 6 hours to ride, the Natchez Trace Parkway is one of Mississippi's most iconic routes. This historic parkway stretches from Nashville, Tennessee, to Natchez, Mississippi, and passes through the northwestern tip of Alabama. As you ride, you'll be treated to expansive views of forests, farmland, and creeks. Take note, with no stop signs or traffic lights.
2. US Route 90 (MS-90)
Now if coastal scenery is what you're after, US Route 90 is what we recommend. Covering 80 miles in about 2 hours, this road runs along the Gulf Coast which shows panoramic views of beaches and the Gulf of Mexico. Starting in the Biloxi Beach area, the route is mostly straight that also allows for a leisurely pace as you enjoy the ocean breeze and scenic views!
3. De Soto National Forest (MS-29)
If you want a view of lush pine forests, we suggest you take MS-29 through De Soto National Forest. This 33-mile route takes approximately 40 minutes to complete and unveils a peaceful escape from urban areas. The road winds through the heart of the forest with views of rolling hills and dense woodlands. Since it is less traveled, you can enjoy a quiet ride with a few gentle curves
4. MS Route 5
Next on our list is the MS Route 5, which runs for 24 miles and takes roughly 30 minutes, winding through the Holly Springs National Forest. This route crosses the Tippah River and shows a blend of open stretches alongside cornfields and wooded scenery with gradual curves. It’s a suitable ride for both novice and experienced riders. Based on our experience, Autumn is an especially beautiful time to experience this route as the foliage adds a splash of color to the landscape.
5. MS Route 15
Covering 30 miles in about 30 minutes, MS Route 15 traverses through rural farmlands with the fresh scent of tall pines in the air. This route offers a ride with minimal traffic, allowing you to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. In the fall, the hardwoods add vibrant colors to the landscape, similar to MS Route 5!
6. MS Route 587 (The Secret Pearl River Run)
Known as the "Secret Pearl River Run," MS Route 587 offers a 30-mile journey that takes about 40 minutes. This route runs alongside the Pearl River and features winding roads with picturesque countryside views. Highlights include the Red Bluff overlook, where you can pause and appreciate the stunning rural landscape. The route is relatively isolated, so it’s best to ride early if you're heading out on a Sunday to avoid potential church traffic. Watch for a few blind curves and tight turns as you enjoy this scenic ride.
7. Old Port Gibson Road
Next, Old Port Gibson Road highlights a ride connecting Raymond, MS, to Port Gibson, MS, over a distance of 44 miles, taking around 1 hour. This lesser-known route is known for a mix of straightaways, long curves, and twisty sections. The road is well-paved, making it suitable for all types of bikes. It's a fantastic choice for those who enjoy a more adventurous ride with varied terrain and ample tree cover. Consider extending your ride by connecting to the Natchez Trace for even more scenic enjoyment.
